Sectors of activity

MAJ : 04/05/2010

Four sectors and one single value

The "sectors of activity" at the LCPC are the four major fields linked with transport infrastructure in which its teams are engaged in research.

These are:

  . Roads

. Engineering Structures

. Geotechnical Engineeringand Natural Hazards

. Urban Engineering

To those four sectors of activity, a transveral fifth has to be added dealing with Engineering Sciences.

Where are the "Environment" and "Road Safety"? These words are so often mentioned in the LCPC’s Strategic Orientations. The answer is logical and very simple, because Environment and Rod Safety are LCPC’s omnipresent values. Each of the four sectors of activity deals with environmental aspects in his work. Roads, geotechnical engineering, Natural hazard and Urban engineering are all and will even feel more and more concerned by environment in the future. By reaching this point, the LCPC has clearly expressed its strategy : environment does not only represent a sector of activities, but it is a key-value that has to be respected everywhere, at anytime. With this line of conduct, research fits in with the logic that the policies of our modern society strongly claim : sustainable development. The same applies for Road Safety.
